Dell™ has released a case study with Lunacloud, featuring the use of Dell™ technology on Lunacloud’s Cloud Servers and Cloud Storage public cloud services.
Lunacloud is a European pure-play cloud services provider that delivers elastic and low-cost cloud infrastructure services for running applications and storing data, competing with larger rivals such as Amazon AWS and Rackspace.
Aiming to provide better price, performance and flexibility, Lunacloud relied on Dell™ servers, storage and networking technology, on which it developed its virtualization, automation and simple user-interface layers, to provide competitive cloud infrastructure services, such as Cloud Servers (compute capacity from less than €0.02 per hour) and Cloud Storage (unlimited virtual disk for €0.07 per GB per month).
After almost one year of development, building on the 18 years experience of its founders in the Internet & Hosting markets, Lunacloud announced its services to the public last June and is now going through a period of growth in the customer base as well as geographical expansion to new markets. Although its cloud services can be acquired online anywhere in the world, Lunacloud currently has operations in the UK and Portugal and will be expanding to France, Spain, France, Netherlands and Germany, in the first quarter of 2013. By providing geographical diversity for customers to locate their servers and data, as well as local technical support teams, Lunacloud focuses on delivering a service that is more tailored to tech start-ups, SMEs and developers in each local market.
We’ve created an incredibly resilient and flexible public cloud service based on Dell solutions…Antonio Ferreira
CEO and Co-Founder of Lunacloud
Dell™ recognizes its importance on Lunacloud’s offer and recently described in more detail the use of its technology to deliver a scalable cloud service, in a case study entitled “Dramatic growth for cloud service with scalable solution“.
Founded in 2011 by industry experts Antonio Miguel Ferreira and Charles Nasser, Lunacloud is the latest pay-as-you-go Cloud infrastructure services provider available to tech-savvy SMEs and start-ups as well as individual developers in the Europe. The cloud has fundamentally changed the way we consume compute, store and network resources, and Lunacloud has evolved to meet these demands.
Lunacloud provides Cloud Servers with any choice of RAM from 512 MB to 96 GB, 1 to 8 CPU cores and 10 GB to 2 TB Disk, running Linux or Windows and controlled via the web control panel or the compute API, from 1.5 cents per hour. This level of flexibility allows for 307,200 different server configurations. It also provides Cloud Storage, a virtual unlimited disk for object storage, accessible via a web browser or the S3-compatible API, from 7 cents per month per used GB.
Lunacloud hosts its physical infrastructure in Tier-3 + datacentres, redundantly connected to the Internet, providing a secure and strong footing for customers at all times and is in partnership with Dell who provides the underlying physical servers and storage infrastructure.
